Soy-Ginger Smoked Salmon
Ingredients
- 6–8 ounces of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated use less if using dry ginger powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
Instructions
Prepare the Marinade:
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, fresh ginger, chopped garlic, and cayenne pepper powder until well combined.
Marinate the Salmon:
- Pour just enough of the marinade mixture to cover the bottom of a shallow pan.
- Place the salmon fillet in the pan, meat side down (skin side up), ensuring the flesh is in contact with the marinade.
- Let the salmon marinate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the Smoker:
- Preheat your smoker to 250°F. Use a mild wood like apple or cherry for a complementary flavor.
Smoke the Salmon:
- Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it in the smoker, skin side down.
- Smoke the salmon for approximately 2 hours, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Serve:
- Let the salmon rest for a few minutes before serving. Pair it with rice, steamed vegetables, or enjoy it on its own for a flavorful, smoky dish.
Notes
* For a slightly sweeter flavor, you can add a teaspoon of honey or brown sugar to the marinade.
* Be careful not to over-marinate, as the soy sauce can overpower the salmon if left too long.
Enjoy the perfect balance of smoky, savory, and spicy flavors!
